Hope Actually (hopeactually.com) is a personal blog run by Hope Cross in Sarasota, Florida. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email me at hello@hopeactually.com or reach me through my contact page.

What I collect

  • Newsletter signups. If you subscribe, your first name and email address are stored with Kit (formerly ConvertKit), the service that sends my newsletter. You can unsubscribe anytime using the link at the bottom of every email.
  • Contact form messages. If you use my contact form, I receive your name, email address and message so I can reply. It is sent by email through Brevo.
  • Comments. If you leave a comment, your name, email address, website (optional), comment and IP address are stored. Your email is never shown publicly. Comments are checked for spam by Akismet.
  • Analytics. I use Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which posts they read. It uses cookies and collects information like your general location, device and the pages you view. It does not tell me who you are.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them to keep the site working, to measure visits with Google Analytics, and when you click affiliate links (see below). You can manage cookies through the cookie banner on this site or your browser settings.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links, including Amazon, Walmart and ShopMy. When you click one, the retailer may use cookies to know the visit came from me, so I can earn a small commission if you buy something. The retailer handles your purchase and its own privacy practices. More in my affiliate disclosure.

Embedded content

Posts and pages may include content from other sites, like my Instagram feed, YouTube videos and Pinterest. These sites may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with that content, just as if you visited them directly.

Who I share it with

I never sell your information. It is shared only with the services that help run this site (my web host, Kit, Brevo, Google Analytics and Akismet) and only for the purposes above, or if required by law.

How long it is kept

Newsletter subscribers stay on my list until they unsubscribe. Comments and their details are kept as long as the comment is published. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to reply.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information I have about you at any time by emailing hello@hopeactually.com or through my contact page. You can also unsubscribe from emails using the link in any newsletter.

Children

This site is meant for adults and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, I will update the date at the top of this page.
