The Best Coffee Shops in Sarasota, Florida (according to a creature of habit)

Really good coffee, even better vibes, and a little local nostalgia. Here is my guide to the best coffee shops in Sarasota, Florida. (Updated October 2026.)

If you’ve followed me for long enough, you probably know two things about me:

  1. I love coffee.
  2. I am a creature of habit.

And while Sarasota has plenty of cute coffee shops, once I find a place I love, I’m pretty loyal.

Now, I’m not saying I’m a coffee snob… but I do have a few standards.

There are three things I look for in a good coffee shop:

1. Coffee that’s significantly better than anything I can make at home. Because if I’m paying for a latte, it better be worth getting out of my pajamas for.

2. A social atmosphere. I love a place where people actually talk to each other. Somewhere you recognize the baristas, run into familiar faces, and feel like you’re part of the neighborhood.

3. Really good branding. Listen, I’m a marketing girl. A beautiful logo, thoughtful interiors, clever menus, and a brand with personality? I’m sold.

So, whether you’re visiting Sarasota for the weekend, new to town, or just looking for somewhere different to get your caffeine fix, here are my three favorite coffee shops in Sarasota, Florida.

And yes, they’re ranked. Because I absolutely have favorites.

1. Project Coffee — My Forever Favorite

My brother Blake actually introduced me to Project Coffee years ago when I used to visit Sarasota, long before I moved back.

And to this day? It’s still my number one.

First of all, the coffee is GOOD. The baristas are incredibly attentive and always slay a good single-origin coffee or matcha.

And can we talk about the menus? They’re constantly changing, everything feels fresh, and there are even little secret menu items depending on which location you visit.

Which, personally, I think is such cool coffee shop lore.

It’s those little details that make a brand memorable.

Between the thoughtfully crafted drinks, effortlessly cool branding, and atmosphere, Project just gets it.

It’s one of those places where you can grab a quick coffee or accidentally spend your entire morning catching up with someone.

And honestly, I love that.

What I love: Single-origin coffee, matcha, creative menus, thoughtful branding, and the little surprises at different locations.

Best for: Coffee dates, catching up with friends, and anyone who appreciates a really good cup of coffee.

2. Perq Coffee Bar in Southside Village — A Sarasota Staple With a Side of Nostalgia

Okay, this one has my heart for a completely different reason.

Perq Coffee Bar in Southside Village has been around in my life since high school.

I used to come here all the time, so there’s something really nostalgic about walking through those doors now as an adult.

But beyond the nostalgia, there’s something so charming about this place.

It’s a family-owned business run by a husband-and-wife team. You’ll often find him behind the coffee bar and her in the kitchen.

And I LOVE that.

People will happily wait in line to support this little neighborhood staple, and I think that says a lot about the kind of community they’ve created.

The atmosphere is incredible, there’s plenty of seating, and it’s a great place to bring the family.

And don’t even get me started on the breakfast sandwiches.

Top. Notch.

It’s the kind of place that reminds me why I love local businesses so much. There’s a story behind the counter, familiar faces, and people who genuinely care about what they’re serving.

What I love: The family-owned charm, amazing breakfast sandwiches, nostalgic atmosphere, and neighborhood community.

Best for: Family breakfasts, slow Saturday mornings, and experiencing a true Sarasota staple.

3. Buddy Brew Coffee in Downtown Sarasota — A Tried-and-True Favorite

Last but absolutely not least, Buddy Brew Coffee.

Buddy Brew and I go way back.

I used to visit their locations in Tampa all the time, so you can imagine how excited I was when I found out Sarasota was getting one of its own.

And it’s been a tried-and-true favorite ever since.

Their cappuccinos are always a solid choice, and I love checking out whatever seasonal drinks they’ve dreamed up.

But what really makes this location special is its downtown Sarasota setting.

It’s the perfect little caffeine stop while you’re out and about downtown.

There’s plenty of seating, a shaded outdoor area, and even a cute mural that’s practically begging for a photo.

You know I’m a sucker for a good photo opportunity.

Whether you’re meeting a friend, taking a break from shopping, or just need an afternoon pick-me-up, Buddy Brew is an easy yes.

What I love: Cappuccinos, seasonal drinks, shaded seating, and the downtown location.

Best for: Downtown coffee dates, afternoon pick-me-ups, and a cute photo stop.

More Than Just a Good Cup of Coffee

Here’s the thing.

I don’t think coffee shops are just about coffee.

I think they’re one of the few places left where we can slow down, get out of our own little worlds, and actually connect with people.

I love recognizing the person behind the counter. I love running into someone I know. And I love those spontaneous conversations that would’ve never happened if I’d just made another cup at home.

Maybe it’s the extrovert in me, but I think there’s something really special about being a regular somewhere.

In a world where we can order practically anything without ever speaking to another human being, I think those little interactions matter.

And supporting the people and businesses that make our community special? Even better.

So, Where Will You Find Me?

Honestly, probably at one of these three.

I’m always open to discovering somewhere new, but I’m also the girl who orders the same drink, sits in the same spot, and somehow still gets excited about it every single time.

Creature of habit. Remember?
